Residents and business owners in the City of Elmira have received letters from the city notifying them of a new program that would allow them to save money on electricity.
18 News has confirmed the letter is legitimate and that it allows the city to develop a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program. This program allows residents to purchase power as a group at a fixed rate of $.05092/kWh through June 2021.
Residents will be transitioned into the program unless they opt-out by June 14, 2019.
NYSEG will still be responsible for delivery, power outages, billing, and maintenance.
For more information read the full letter posted above.
