Ringing for joy with the Westminster Ringers

In 1998, Larry and Debbie Henning founded the Westminster Ringers, Inc. Today, 20 years later, the duo and their tribe decided to hit the road and go on a tour to celebrate 20 years of “bronze magic”.

The tour hit the road in May, and ended today in the Pennsylvania town of Wellsboro.

The non-profit organization started, but their love for bells started before that.

The Henning’s are high school sweethearts. Larry wanted to spend more time with Debbie, and that could only happen if he went to church with her. If you put two and two together, the rest is pretty much history.

As for the ringers, they are a very dedicated bunch. They practice once a week for a little under two hours, but this isn’t where the dedication begins. They are called the “Westminster Ringers”, but none of them actually live in Westminster.

The group has members that hail from nearly 8 different counties in Maryland. Meaning, most drive upwards of an hour, just to get to practice.

They love to perform and they love each other says Henning,” I know I have my blood family, but my bell family is really very important to me.When we click together, we make music together and that’s really exciting”.

Although they are finished touring for the season, you can still hear their melodic sounds through speakers; as they currently have two cd’s for sale and a third on the way.
