Rochester man charged with child pornography following Amber Alert

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced Tuesday that Robert Gonzalez, 42, of Rochester, NY, has been charged by criminal complaint with production and possession of child pornography.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years, and stems from an Amber Alert issued on Dec. 3, 2018.

Gonzalez allegedly took his 14-year-old neighbor to New York City without her parent’s permission. Officials say the two had an inappropriate sexual relationship, and that the girl’s mother had previously caught them kissing in front of their house.

Gonzalez was apprehended on Dec. 6, 2018, at the Red Carpet Inn in Brooklyn, NY.

At the time of his arrest, officers seized Gonzalez’s cell phone, and a search uncovered numerous videos taken between Nov. 12, 2018, and Nov. 19, 2018, of the defendant engaging in sexual activity with the girl.

Officials say the girl’s mother confirmed her daughter confessed to her that she had been dating Gonzalez and that they had sex numerous times.

The girl’s mother provided police with Facebook messages exchanged between the girl and Gonzalez, including “I love you,” “Come over,” and Gonzalez asking if they were going to make love to which the daughter responded, “yeah 100.”

Gonzalez made an initial appearance Tuesday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson.
