News

Cherie Middaugh has been found guilty of 21 misdemeanor counts of “overdriving, torturing, and injuring” horses in Southport, according to Chemung County District Attorney Weeden Wetmore.

An animal control investigation in May 2018 found horses in poor living conditions and in poor health. The horses were reportedly covered in lice and standing in manure.

Each misdemeanor count carries up to one year in the Chemung County Jail.

Middaugh’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 8, 2019.
