It’s that time of year again.
Thursday, the state health department declared that the flu is once again prevalent in New York.
As a result of the declaration, health workers, who haven’t received a flu vaccine, are now required to wear surgical or procedure masks around patients.
At the same time, the state has launched a new tool to track the flu: New York State Flu Tracker.
The tracker will show case the flu, county-by-county, across New York.
As of December 15, the flu tracker shows 14 reported cases of the flu in Monroe County and 1,230 cases statewide, up 106 percent from last week.
As always, health officials urge New Yorkers to get the flu vaccine.
