State Police: 82-year-old Homer man drowns in Skaneateles Lake

State Police are investigating after a 82-year-old man had fallen through the ice at Skaneateles Lake and drowned. 

Rescue crews from Onondaga and Cayuga Counties were called to Skaneateles Lake near 7006 North Glen Haven Road in the Town of Sempronius around 3:15 p.m. for reports of a person drowning.

State Police say 82-year-old Alfred Coon, of Homer, had been fishing, fell through the ice and had not surfaced for over 20 minutes. 

EMS attempted to perform life-saving measures on Coon, but were unsuccessful. 

The investigation is ongoing.
