Steuben County Sheriff David Cole got a standing ovation Friday night.

The applause came from the fans attending the Yankees game at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees always honor a veteran during their seventh inning stretch just before playing Kate Smith’s rendition of ‘God Bless America.’

Cole’s daughter-in-law submitted David’s name to the Yankees and his name was drawn for him to appear at Friday’s game.
