Summer youth programs are heating up.
And with that, there are plenty of ways to get involved during the summer months.
Both the Chemung County Youth Bureau as well as the Town of Big Flats have positive ways for youth of varying ages to explore strategies to immerse themselves within the community.
“The summer youth employment is a great opportunity for youth to not only get youth experience, but they attend work shops on resume composure, teamwork skills, communication skills,” said Youth Program Coordinator of The Chemung County Youth Bureau Laura Zurn.
Opportunities for youth to be active can be found within the Summer T.A.F.F.Y. program in Big Flats.
“We have our program of five weeks, summer T.A.F.F.Y. program, at five locations in the town of Big Flats,” said Youth Program Coordinator Marge Tremaine. “We house approximately 300 to 400 kids, residents and non-residents. We employ 32 counselors to oversee these children,” added Tremaine.
The ladies said they are excited for this summer’s programs for the youth and hope that they continue their success in recruiting those ready to get that vital work experience as they prepare to develop job skills moving forward.
