Syracuse student threw cat against the wall, abused ex-girlfriend during domestic dispute

 A Syracuse University student has been arrested after he allegedly abused his ex-girlfriend and repeatedly threw her cat against a wall during a domestic dispute.

Police say in October of 2017, 21-year-old Dancheng Wang punched and kicked his ex-girlfriend several times inside a University Avenue apartment.

The woman sustained minor injuries as a result. 

During the alleged incident, Wang also seriously injured the woman’s cat by repeatedly throwing it against a wall, police say.

The cat had a fractured skull, fractured pelvis and a fractured femur as a result.

The victim said she had to pay over $3,000 in veterinary bills to pay for treatment for her cat.

The alleged incident occurred in October of 2017 but it was not reported to Syracuse Department of Public Safety until August 2018. 

Wang has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree harassment.

He is currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
