Two Syracuse teenagers have been charged in connection with a fight that prompted a large police presence to respond to Destiny USA mall on Monday night.
According to police, two girls were fighting when they arrived, and another fight broke out while they were breaking up the first one.
A 15-year-old, a 16-year-old, and a “juvenile female” were taken into custody by police.
They say the juvenile female fought with police while they tried to place handcuffs on her.
Police needed to call in additional units because of the size of the crowd involved in the disturbance.
The 15-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of second-degree harassment.
The 16-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct.
The 16-year-old were taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center pending arraignment.
The 15-year-old’s case was turned over to family court.
The juvenile was charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
She was released to her parents.
Media outlets reported similar incidents in malls throughout the United States.
It is not known whether this incident at Destiny USA was connected with the other incidents Monday night.
