Chemung County Fire and Emergency Management is asking for your help in testing their emergency alert mobile app.
The app allows users to upload damage reports along with photos right from their smartphone. The uploaded information goes right to the department’s management email account. But officials said they need help from the public to work out potential bugs.
“We want to test the app, we want to make sure that during an emergency if we have you know 50 people all submitting photos to us and damage reports to us that it’s not going to overload the system and we’re not going to get error reports or things like that,” Deputy Director of Chemung County Fire and Emergency Management Kristin Card said. “On Nov. 1, on test day, we’re asking people to take a picture of a street sign that’s close to their home or business.”
Officials said anyone experiencing an emergency should still call or text 911.
