The Chemung Valley Living History Center gears up for Revolutionary War event

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Paul and Kelly Perine from the Chemung Valley Living History Center stopped by 18 News Today to discuss the upcoming Revolutionary War weekend event.

After a 3 year absence, the event is back for the public to enjoy. This year, it falls around the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Newtown. Reenactors will recreate 18th Century war practices and accurately portray life as soldiers, civilians and camp-followers during our country’s Revolutionary War.

There will be activities throughout the weekend for all ages, including a children’s musket drill, where kids can learn how the soldiers drilled. This is a 3 day event starting Friday, August 23 at 12 p.m. and ending August 25 at 5 p.m. It will be held at Newtown Battlefield State Park, located at 2346 County Rd 60 in Elmira.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children and seniors 62 and older. For the full schedule of events, click here.
