Thousands ticketed during ‘Speed Week’

New York State Police handed out more than 21,000 tickets during its crackdown on speeding, and aggressive and distracted driving.

The ‘Speed Week’ campaign ran from August 2 through August 8.

More than 1,500 tickets were written in the Southern Tier including nearly 800 for speeding and 15 drunk driving arrests.

Last year, ‘Speed Week’ resulted in almost the same number of tickets.
