If NBC has their way, Ricky Gervais will be hosting the Golden Globes once again.
Speaking at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival Friday, Gervais told the crowd that NBC has offered the gig to him for a third time, despite some backlash over his stinging jokes at last year’s ceremony. “I love NBC, I love the fact they stuck by me through it,” he said.
The man behind The Office, says he’s unlikely to take the job. “I am [considering it], but I shouldn’t do it,” he said. “It’s a second encore. Don’t do a second encore. I don’t think I should do it. What am I going back as?”
In his crosshairs at last year’s ceremony: Hugh Hefner, Scientologists, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Charlie Sheen‘s hotel debacle, and the aging Sex and the City 2 stars. And he really stuck it to critically maligned Johnny Depp-Angelina Jolie film The Tourist for even being among the nominees.
After the Globes, Gervais told TVGuide.com that he didn’t think he went too far. “I think last year I didn’t go far enough,” he said. “This year, I went about right. If anyone was offended, then I don’t care.”
Should Gervais host the Golden Globes again?
