Two weeks after his train-wreck performance on America’s Got Talent, the man to whom everything is a domino, Kinetic King, was able to pull off his act as intended when he was brought back for Tuesday’s wild-card round. His design of sticks, cups and strings collapsed in a chain reaction and it was … kind of leisurely and anti-climactic? Whatever. A slower pace is better than a fall on one’s face.

Elsewhere, the Summerwind Skippers dazzled with their Double Dutch-on-fire act. The West Springfield Dance Team‘s Joker-inspired routine was held back considerably by copyright (“Don’t be so serious!” sounded a Heath Ledger-alike sample), and Landon Swank continued holding onto his pop-culture slot of the sexiest Houdini rip-off of all time. A few swipes were taken at Piers Morgan over suggestions of his involvement in phone-hacking. Lighthearted chuckles abounded.

Morgan’s most outspoken critic was stand-up comic J. Chris Newberg, who spent his entire act roasting the judge (“Anybody in this business will tell you that you’re nobody unless you’ve been insulted by a nobody on a reality show. So Piers, thank you for being my nobody.”) As Morgan is the kind of person who claims that goofy acts like Those Funny Little People make a “mockery” of a show that is not very serious in the first place, and someone who says, “This is not personal, it’s business” to children (that was his reason for buzzing the admittedly cloying Chippettes ringers Avery and the Calico Hearts), he deserves whatever flak he gets.
