ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Community Arts of Elmira hosted a mural ribbon cutting for the Chemung River sunset.

The project, by Emily Solometo, is located on the Elmira promenade wing, on West Second Street. The artist said she’s proud of the work she has done and happy to have provided something enriching for the community to appreciate.

“There’s so much focus and emphasis on negative things,” said Artist Emily Solometo. “I think it’s important to notice the special qualities about any community. I was born in Elmira, I live in Elmira, I raised my family in Elmira,” continued Solometo.

The community has a hope to continue the arts and culture movement in the area with ideas of expansion to other projects.
