ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM) – Community Arts of Elmira presented a Book Launch for 10048, Poetry of 9/11 by Edward A. Dougherty: Poetry Reading and Book Signing.

The title of Edward Dougherty’s newest collection of poems, 10048, comes from the zip code for the Twin Towers, but it also serves to locate the book in time and place.

“As a college teacher, I’m seeing a generation come up that didn’t experience the events, said Edward Dougherty. “If they were born they were so small they didn’t have direct experience and becomes even more personal that the way they tell the story does it in a way that honors and educates what we learned,” added Dougherty.

Richly researched and moving, 10048 tells the story of the World Trade Center, of 9/11, and of what it means to be human in our time.

This event celebrated the recent publication of Dougherty’s book and memorializes one of the defining events of our era. It is one of the first times Dougherty read from the book.

Edward A. Dougherty lives in Corning, New York, and is a Professor of English at Corning Community College.

The cost of the book is $19.95 plus tax.
