ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Fathers Helping Fathers hosted a community cookout.
The popular summer cookout was held at All Saints Home Church of God in Christ located at 351 E 5th Street, Elmira.
A strong showing took part in what was a picturesque Southern Tier day equipped with music, food, family, and friends.
“Fathers Helping Fathers is a group to have fathers to be in their children’s life,” said Fathers Helping Fathers President Elijah McGee. “We need more mentors in the community, positive role models. That’s definitely something we need,” continued McGee.
According to the All Saints Home Church of God in Christ Pastor, it’s a great way to get people together.
“This is just outreach for us trying to reach out to people know we are here,” said Pastor Kenneth Reed. “We put notices out, get it out in the neighborhood to let people know we are doing this. We want to get some traction in the community to let people know we are here,” Reed continued.
Pastor Reed expressed that this is a perfect way to promote the communities togetherness of love and support of one another.
