Residents battling the heat in New York could get financial assistance to keep cool.
Low-income residents could qualify for the state’s HEAP Cooling Assistance Benefit.
The program provides financial grants to low-income residents who may struggle to purchase and install an air conditioner.
Eligibility is based on your income, if you receive other benefits, and if you have a health problem triggered by the heat.
For one person living alone, their monthly gross income must not exceed $2,391. Benefits are given on a first-come, first-serve basis and must be done in person.
