Horseheads Police investigating armed robbery at fireworks stand

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – Officers from the Horseheads Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at the Village Plaza fireworks stand on July 4.

An unknown male subject approached an employee at the fireworks tent located in the plaza, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. 

The victim, Lewis Yost, tells 18 News that his cellphone and keys were stolen, but no fireworks or cash was taken.

Yost says he was “pistol whipped” twice before the suspect fled north on Westinghouse Road. Yost was later treated and released at a local hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately six feet tall, husky build, wearing shorts and a dark colored t-shirt with cut off sleeves.
