“How will it work for me?” Guthrie weight loss center answers question on adolescent weight loss

SAYRE, Pa. (WETM) – The start of a new school year is finally here, and with the start of this new school year comes some new health and medical concerns for parents.

In addition, the issue of obesity and weight is still a big worry factor.

But the good news is that the Guthrie Weight Loss Center in Sayre has made some significant strides in the way of weight loss and health. The Guthrie Weight Loss Center has received three-year re-accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

18 News Spoke with Dr. Mustafa Aman, Guthrie Director, Bariatric Surgery who shared his medical professional opinion on the weight loss journey in some adolescents and how it intensifies.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 93.3 million people suffer from obesity, and the numbers continue to increase.

Obesity increases the risks of morbidity and mortality because of the diseases and conditions that are commonly associated with it, such as type II diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, among other health risks.
