NEW YORK (WETM) New York could join 35 other states requiring schools to teach sexual abuse awareness.
The bill would mandate schools to teach lessons based on the child’s age to help them understand the difference between inappropriate and appropriate touching.
It would also require students to be taught how to report abuse to an adult.
Lawmakers passed the bill, known as Erin’s Law, named after an abuse survivor who pushed for the law all over the United States.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has not voiced his opinion on this bill yet.
