NYPD: Child in stroller fatally struck by vehicle in Bronx

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a 1-year-old in a stroller was struck and killed by a driver who jumped a curb in the Bronx.

It happened at about 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Olinville neighborhood near East 216th Street and White Plains Road.

Witnesses say the mother took the child in a private vehicle to the hospital where the child was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver is in custody and was given a sobriety test.

Video of the scene shows a white vehicle halfway on the sidewalk.
