Park’s new beautification made possible by local volunteers

BLOSSBURG, Pa. (WETM) New and lush flowers and plants now decorate Island Park in Blossburg.

This beautification project was made possible by the generosity of several volunteers this past week.

The project was spearheaded by two ladies, Laura Patterson and Sharon McNett.

Their hard work is being noticed by those who visit the park and walk the trails.

The borough’s mayor, Shane Nickerson also took notice. He said he was surprised to find out it was all volunteer work.

“They’re the true meaning of community,” Nickerson said. “It’s not just about what you do, it’s about how you do it and they are the best part of Blossburg.”

local businesses contributed and donated to the beautification project.

Nickerson said the volunteers will not stop and will continue to spruce up the park.
