ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Two people were arrested for violating an order of protection after a false report prompted heavy police presence on West Avenue Friday afternoon in Elmira.

Elmira Police Department responded to the home around noon for a Check the Welfare call after a third party caller reported that a female occupant was being held against her will in the home and that the suspect had a gun.

Both the alleged suspect and victim were identified once eight occupants were called out of the house one by one.

Police say the alleged victim told them she was okay and the report was determined to be false.

As a result of the investigation, two people inside the home were found to be in violation of an Elmira City Court and Elmira Heights Village Court Orders of Protection.

Harley E Taylor, a 25 year old Elmira resident, was arrested and charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, in violation of NY State Penal Law 215-50 subdivision 3, a Class A Misdemeanor
