The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has received a large grant from the national sandwich chain Firehouse Subs.
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard tells 18 News that the department received the $25,000 grant in May and recently purchased 15 new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and Accessories.
According to Allard, the grant will ensure that an AED will be available in every patrol car.
Sheriff Allard says this is another life-saving tool to bring, as they are often first on a scene to save lives.
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was established in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. Law enforcement, EMS, public safety organizations, non-profits and schools are encouraged to apply for lifesaving equipment.
