BATH, NY (WETM) – It is suicide prevention awareness week.
And with that, the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System in Bath hosted the Power of One event to highlight and demonstrate the community’s support of suicide prevention.
“Suicide is a public health crisis,” said Bath VA Medical Center Suicide Prevention Coordinator Jennifer Haggerty. “The VA is spending a great deal of effort and time partnering with our community in many different ways. We want to be able to help veterans we have not been able to reach,” Haggerty continued.
There were numerous activities planned for the day including a walk, art show, music, yoga, Tai Chi, food and refreshments, emotional support animals, t-shirt painting, rock painting.
Over 40 health and human services supported the event and providing additional activities and information. There were numerous activities including a walk, art show, music, yoga, Tai Chi, food and refreshments, animals as part of therapy, t-shirt painting, rock painting among others.
The community was invited and participated. Many community agencies also attended and supported the event providing additional information.
