(WETM – TV) – July 4th is a rough holiday for our pets.

While it may seem like a good idea to celebrate independence day with our furry friends.. some activities can be potentially harmful.

The ASPCA urged pet owners to resist exposing your pets to fireworks.

Pets can often become frightened and disoriented by the sound.. causing unnecessary stress.

It’s also not a good idea to allow pets to eat scraps from the grill, even on a holiday.

Any change in diet, even for one meal, can cause digestive problems.

Certain foods such as onions can be potentially harmful to pets.

It’s equally vital to never leave alcoholic drinks unattended where pets can reach them.
