The New York State Police arrested a 19-year-old man after an accident in Catherine for driving while intoxicated and using his cell phone while driving.
On July 11 at 1:30 a.m., New York State Police responded to Newtown Rd in the Town of Catherine for a motor vehicle accident. When State Police interviewed the driver, Kameron Edminster, 19 of Hector, Edminster told police that he had been using his cell phone when he went off the road and drove into a fence causing damage to the fence and his vehicle.
Edminster also admitted he had been drinking at a friend’s house and was driving home.
Edminster was unable to complete roadside sobriety tests and placed under arrest for DWI and was found to have a BAC of .16%, twice the legal limit of .08%.
The vehicle was towed and Edminster was turned over to a sober third party.
