Elmira All – Stars talk success, excited for Regionals

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM) – Elmira Cal Ripken League’s nine and under All-Stars recently won the coveted Western New York State Championship.

The youngsters bested Jamestown, 13-3, with the 10-run rule in effect to secure the title.

With the victory, Elmira now advances to the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in New Jersey July 20-23rd.

Excitement is high amongst the team. They say this upcoming weekend is key to their overall success moving forward.

“I’m kind of nervous because I’ve never done this before,” said Elmira All – Star A.J. Sheehan. “It’s a good opportunity for me to do this type of stuff,” Sheehan added.

A.J.’s coach echoed those sentiments of pride and love for his team. “I’m excited for these kids. We are ready to play some good baseball.” I’ve had these kids for three years. They’ve worked so hard. I’m really proud of them,” Morrell added.

You can help pitch in and support the players and their families as they work to cover the travel expenses associated with the tournament. The team is in hopes of raising $10,000 for expenses and is thrilled for the opportunity.
