Traffic stop in Elmira leads to drug charges

A 45-year old Brooklyn man is facing felony drug charges.

Pedro Sanchez was arrested by State Police as they pulled him over for traveling 90 miles per hour in a posted 65 mile per hour zone on I-86 in the Town of Elmira Friday.

Sanchez was found with 40 grams of cocaine, 109 bags of heroin, approximately two grams of marijuana, cutting agent, digital scales and packaging material.

State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested Sanchez for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (B-Felony), one count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (A-Misdemeanor) and one count of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana (Violation). 

Sanchez was arraigned in the Town of Elmira Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail without bail. 

Troopers were assisted at the scene of the traffic stop by members of the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
