Troopers investigate home invasion in Apalachin, one victim dead

New York State Police at Owego are investigating a home invasion in Apalachin, one person is dead. 

There is one suspect in custody and troopers are searching for a second person considered to be a person of interest. 

Troopers were dispatched to 5 Dorothy Road at approximately 5:55 a.m., Thursday, May 9. 

When troopers arrived a female told troopers that two males entered the home and ultimately shot the male residing at the home.  That male is now deceased.  The female was not injured. 

The person of interest is described as a white male, approximately 5’8 wearing black pants, a black jacket, and construction boots.  He is believed to have fled on foot.  It is not known what his state of mind is at this time. 

State Police contacted local schools to suspend any bus routes through the area as a precaution, some schools were closed.  There is no immediate threat to any schools.
