On last week’s So You Think You Can Dance, Lady Gaga threw a shoe, much like a spirited filly. In fact, she threw both of her shoes to honor the Sonya Tayeh-choreographed performance by frontrunners Melanie and Sasha.
Will the Top 6 performance tonight inspire the same level of adoration from guest judge Christina Applegate? Although she stars in NBC’s upcoming fall comedy Up All Night, she’s more than just a sitcom star (Married … With Children, Samantha Who?). Her dance cred includes helping found The Pussycat Dolls and starring in the 2005 Broadway revival of Sweet Charity, for which she won a Theatre World Award and was nominated for a Tony (and broke her foot!).
Joining her in guest judgeship is choreographer Lil’ C, who will no doubt wow us with his verbal dexterity and inaccuracy. No one constructs a malapropism like Lil’ C!
Tonight’s performances will determine who will make it to the final, and it looks like Caitlynn is the girl to go if Melanie and Sasha remain dominant. Anything can happen though. Among the guys, Marko seems the most consistent and looks like a lock for the finals. Ricky is definitely the better technician if it comes down to him and Tadd for elimination, but Tadd has charisma and an effortless talent at mastering unfamiliar dance genres.
Is Melanie unstoppable? Who should make it to the finals? Which choreographers would you like to see in the finals?
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to recap because I’m attending the fall previews, but sound off in the comments below.
