Elmira Police said they have two suspects in custody after an armed robbery took place in the city Monday afternoon.
They said it happened around 2:40 p.m. in the 900 block of Lake Street.
Police said a victim was robbed at gunpoint and was then struck in the head. Money and personal property were taken from the victim; police also said the victim knew the suspect.
Around 8 p.m., Elmira Police arrested Jalen Perry, 22, and James Banks, 22. Both individuals were charged with Second Degree Robbery.
Both men are being held in the Elmira City Jail and awaiting their morning arraignments in Elmira city court.
Officers stress that this robbery stemmed from a drug related incident. It was not a random act.
