United airlines is coming back to the Elmira-Corning airport..

County and airport officials announced today that United will resume flights out of Elmira-Corning beginning in April..

Two flights at 6 a-m and 6 p-m will fly to Newark.

United’s last flight out of Elmira-Corning was in the spring of 20-16.

The airline had been at the airport for two years.. And even though passenger traffic has increased.. It was not enough to keep the service..

And at the time, new federal training requirements for new pilots had created a shortage of regional pilots.

United’s return is expected to be a boom to the region’s economy.
