On Saturday, we showed you how residents in Elkland were picking up the pieces after the flood.
The clean up continues, but more pictures sent in to us from viewers there show us more of the damage.
Some of these pictures shows us just how deep the water was after the rain stopped on Friday.
Many more homes were damaged with water taking over their lawns.
Images sent into us by Anna Simons Empson shows us the damage in Osceola Township, just west of Elkland.
Osceola Camp Brook Road was severely damaged. She said one home was completely destroyed, washed away from its base.
According to Steuben County Manger, Jack Wheeler, “we are working with Albany but not optimistic about federal aid. The damage was severe but so isolated that it won’t reach the monetary threshold to qualify. We are hoping Albany can group these flash flood events in our region together and maybe that will qualify us. Either way, it’ll be a local cost for the time being.”
Wheeler goes on to say “we expect County Route 85 to be closed for approximately one month. The detour/alternative route southbound would be County Route 100 to County Route 99 or County Route 101. Northbound would be County Route 101 or PA Route 49 to US 99.”
We will continue to keep you updated on all the latest developments from the Elkland flood as more information becomes available.
