UPDATE as of 5:30 p.m: Despite what ESPN initially confirmed to NewsChannel 9, College GameDay will NOT be airing live from inside the Carrier Dome ahead of the Duke game.

Earlier on Thursday, ESPN told NewsChannel 9 that College GameDay would go on as scheduled, despite news of coach Jim Boeheim’s involvement in a deadly accident.

ESPN appears to have made the decision to cancel the show after all.

The show will now take place at the ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut.

An ESPN spokesperson said:

“Due to the recent tragedy, and after careful consideration due to the celebratory nature of the show, ESPN’s College GameDay will originate from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., this weekend, instead of at Syracuse University. We spoke with school officials and they understand the decision.”

College GameDay came to the Dome in 2014 when Syracuse beat Duke 91-89 in overtime in front of a historic crowd of 35,446.

Syracuse has already announced that this year’s game has sold out and will set a record for the largest on-campus crowd for a college basketball game.
