UPDATE: Victim identified in deadly snowmobile accident


(UPDATE 6:30 p.m.): New York State Police identified BillieJo Mcilwain-Gee as the victim of Monday’s deadly snowmobile crash in the Town of Tuscarora.

Mcilwain-Gee was riding with her husband, both of Addison, on a private road when they crossed onto State Rt. 417. Their snowmobile was struck by a Chevrolet Astro van driven by Milessa F. Reese.

Mcilwain-Gee was taken to Guthrie Corning Hospital and pronounced dead at the hospital. Gee was airlifted by LifeNet to Robert Packer Hospital.

Neither of the riders on the snowmobile were wearing helmets and the driver did not yield at the road.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Addison Police Department, Addison Fire Department, Tuscarora Fire Department, Woodhull Fire Department, AMR Ambulance, and the Steuben County 911 Center.


New York State Police in Painted Post are investigating a deadly snowmobile accident that occurred in the Town of Addison Monday afternoon.

State Police tell 18 News that a female was killed in the accident, though it’s unknown whether she was the operator or a passenger.

The crash happened near the intersection of County Rt. 85 and State Route 417 shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Monday when the snowmobile collided with a car.

The crash is under investigation and 18 News will have more details when they become available.
