ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) -The Twin Tiers Sports Awards returned on June 27, at Elmira High School. Horseheads Beverage Center in Horseheads and Allstate Brautigan Insurance at The Arnot Mall provided tickets for the event for just $5. The event was in its third year and it honored the very best in local sports.

People across the Twin Tiers voted for the team of the year, MVP’s, moment of the year and more by voting on mytwintiers.com/sports.

Special guest speakers for the event included Georgetown University soccer hall of fame inductee and Elmira native, Christina Sonsire, along with longtime WETM-TV sports director, Terry Day.

Marty Chalk received the lifetime achievement award-winner. Chalk, Day, and Sonsire all spoke about their careers and legendary ties to the Twin Tiers.

The winners of all of the other awards include:

Male MVP – Horseheads Mike Limoncelli
Female MVP – Edison’s Bella Willsey
Team of The Year – Elmira Boys Basketball 
Coach of The Year – Watkins Glen’s Alicia Learn
Highlight of The Year – Horseheads Riley Loomis’ Big Catch
Mascot of The Year – Elmira College’s Soaring Eagle
College Team of The Year– Alfred Men’s Basketball 
College Athlete of The Year – Corning Community College’s Christian Simmons
Moment of The Year – Horseheads Devin Woodworth
Inspiration of The Year – Corning’s Jake Cole
