For one week I drove the back roads and visited the small towns in Tioga County, Pa. to learn what makes the area unique.
Along the way, I met some amazing people and saw some incredible sights.
Despite the January chill, the Borough of Blossburg was a warm, welcoming town with so many hidden gems. The Victoria Theater has been restored after a century of service and now has digital screenings.
Island Park is where a majority of the community grew up and where their children spend summer days.
Nearby is the town formerly known as Fall Brook, a largely abandoned wooded area that’s only exterior feature is a water treatment plant. Behind the trees are campsites, waterfalls, and a cemetery some have claimed to be haunted.
There are few places as beautiful in the area as the picturesque town of Wellsboro. The downtown streets resemble that of a Norman Rockwell painting with gaslit street lamps lining the sidewalk.
Enjoy my trip through Tioga County, Pa. and stay tuned next week when I explore Schuyler County, N.Y.
