Two people were arrested after the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office discovered a driver intoxicated with a child in the vehicle.

A Deputy Sheriff pulled Kristy Gardner over for speeding on I-86 in Horseheads and discovered she was under the influence of alcohol with a one-year-old child in the back seat.

Gardner has been charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child in the Vehicle, a Class E Felony (also known as Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor, and several Vehicle and Traffic Violations 

Gardner was arraigned and remanded to the Chemung County Jail and bail was set at
$1,000 cash/$2,000 property.

Joshua Kranz, a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with
a Child in the 1st Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Kranz was arraigned and remanded to the Chemung County Jail and bail was set at $300 cash/$600 property
