Women Riders World Relay to pass through the Twin Tiers

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — April DeGrande, the Pennsylvania Ambassador for the WRWR US Ripple Relay stopped by 18 news today to discuss the Women Riders World Relay.

Women Riders World Relay was founded by Hayley Bell after expressing her frustration on social media about going into motorcycle stores and seeing a lack of choice, combined with stereotypical pink and being told “there just isn’t the market for women”. Hayley wanted to show that there is indeed a market for women, and there are plenty of women that ride motorcycles.

There was an overwhelming amount of women who shared the same frustrations, thus, Women Riders World Relay was born. They organize and participate in, a world-wide women’s motorbike relay, covering even remote parts of the world.

Today, over 15,000 women participate in WRWR. It involves women passing a baton via “legs” of countries across the world, for example: Manchester to London, London to Paris, Paris to Pamplona.

There are US legs and one of them will be passing through the Twin Tiers, coming from Rome, NY and ending in Wellsboro, PA.
