The Chemung County Sexual Health Task Force is asking the community to join them in their annual commemoration of World AIDS Day at the Steele Memorial Library from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Saturday, Dec. 1st.
World AIDS Day is a day to remember those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, celebrate those living with HIV and fighting the stigma, along with learning about advancements in HIV care, like PrEP, PEP, and U=U.
At the event, there will be a panel discussion of local experts talking about HIV in our community and advancements in HIV health care and prevention.
There will also be a chance to win a $100 gift card and other prizes after completing a health agency scavenger hunt.
A memorial to those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS in Chemung County will be on display as well during the event along with the AIDS Memorial Quilts which are display from Nov. 29 to Dec. 5 at the Steele Memorial Library, Elmira High School, and Elmira College.
The task force also asks the community to wear red to help represent the cause.
