Nikki Baker, mother, and wife was an avid wrestling fan and had wrestling nestled all around her. She was the wife of local wrestler Jeff Thomas.

She passed away in December after fighting an unknown illness, but her husband made sure her memory would still carry on.

Thomas founded Northern Tier Wrestling, a company based in Towanda, Pa. that brings audiences the entertainment of wrestling. He hosted the first-ever Nikkia Baker Memorial Show on Sunday.

The event at Sayre’s VFW Hall brought out a packed house of friends, families, and wrestling fans. They united to remember the woman who loved the sport they too have a passion for.

Several wrestlers competed for free at the event. One of those was Brian Pillman Jr., the son of WWE legend, Brian Pillman.

“It means a lot to me to give back to be able to give back the same way that so many wrestlers gave back the way my father passed away,” Pillman said. “Us kids, we needed money to get us going, to get us back on our feet for our family. that’s what wrestling is all about.”

Another wrestler there was Matt Knowles of Campbell, N.Y.

“I’ll tell you there was a young lady named Nikki, just in her early thirty’s, not very long ago. Had a couple little kids, she was a wife of one of the wrestlers here today,” Knowles said. “That’s the type of thing, not only the wrestling community, but the community comes together for, not on the best in wrestling, but the best in people.”

All proceeds raised from admission went to Baker’s memory and family.

NTW said it hopes to have more events in the near-future.
