The New York State Department of Transportation announced that work will begin Monday, April 22, in the town of Avoca on NY Route 415, located just south of Michigan Hollow Road in Steuben County.
Work will include the construction of a new bridge to cross Salmon Creek.
To complete this work, it will be necessary to detour NY Route 415 traffic. Northbound travelers will be diverted to NY 53 in the Hamlet of Kanona, then to Interstate 86 W to Interstate 390 N to Exit 1, located in the town of Avoca.
Southbound travelers will use Michigan Hollow Road, located in the town of Avoca to access Interstate 390 S, then merge onto Interstate 86 E to Exit 37 to NY Route 53, Kanona.
A separate bicycle detour is also provided using local roads.
It is the goal of the department to have the bridge and approach work completed and have all traffic diverted back to the original alignment by mid-August, 2019.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
