The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Rochester man after they say he was impersonating a federal agent in the Bath area.
Dr. Richard Hoyer, 62, is charged with First Degree Criminal Impersonation. Police say Hoyer was repeatedly visiting a business and telling people he was a federal agent. Police arrested Hoyer Thursday after confronting him at the business he was visiting.
Police say Hoyer was carrying a fake badge, fake pistol, and also had items such as ballistic shields, ballistic body armor, and other police related equipment in his vehicle at the time of arrest.
Police add the investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending. Hoyer was released on his own recognizance until his next appearance in court in March.
