The pool of candidates for the Chemung County Legislature keeps expanding.

The newest candidate is Robert Briggs. He’s lived in Elmira for 45 years and is now seeking to represent the 11th Legislative District.

Briggs said his desire to serve the county and the city lead to his decision and two quotes he goes by.

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got,” Briggs said. “The second one is the definition of insanity, that is if you do the same thing everyday and expect different results, that’s the definition of insanity.”

The quotes he says are in reference to how the county and city have continued to do business as usual with no different results.

The district is currently represented by Aola Jackson, who said she will not seek reelection.
