Traffic Stop in Elmira Leads to Weapon and Drug Charges

A Rochester man is facing felony charges following a traffic stop in the area of Grove St. and W. Washington Ave. on Thursday.

19-year-old Marquee S. Hicks was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon and the criminal possession of a controlled substance. 

Officials said during the course of the traffic stop, Hicks who was in the front passenger seat was seen attempting to hide over one-eight of an ounce of crack cocaine. 

When officers tried to detain him, he was found to have a fully loaded and chambered handgun in the front of his waistband. 

Hicks was taken into custody without incident and sent to the Elmira Police Department where he is pending arraignment.
