From finalized parade floats to shamrocks painted across the area, the St. Patrick’s spirit is making its way through Horseheads.
A project to paint a shamrock at the center of Hanover Square was just completed Wednesday morning.
Members of the community have moved on to adding finishing touches on their parade floats.
Shamrock sequins lined and illuminated the St. Patrick’s float at Lynch Funeral Home.
A little over a year ago, a committee of about 10 people gradually labored in hard work and love for the final product.
“It started because we gained St. Patrick in the 2015 parade and he walks the parade, and we thought for the next year we wanted to add a float and what better way to honor the St. Patrick who the parade is for than to build a float for him,” Stacey White, a committee member at the Friends of St. Patrick’s Parade, said.
Jim Lynch, owner of Lynch Funeral Home, will dress as St. Patrick once again and ride the float across Horseheads.
He said he is looking forward to seeing the joy in children’s faces as he passes by.
