17-year-old charged with making terroristic threat to local school

BATH, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - A 17-year-old teen from Bath is charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony, after it's alleged that he left a message of a specific threat to the Hammandsport School District on a staff member's voicemail.

On Wednesday, New York State Police at Bath and the Hammondsport School District Resource Officer were notified of the threat and commenced an investigation.

Upon completion of the investigation, which consisted of interviews as well as a building search by the New York State Police K-9 Unit, it was determined that Steven Watters, of Bath, left a message advising of a potential threat at the school, and provided a specific time the threat would happen.

Watters was remanded to the Steuben County jail on $500 cash bail.

He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Avoca court on February 14.
